Grumpy little guy

I think Ryland's been grumpy b/c he is trying to cut his 3rd tooth...finally! It's funny b/c I still give him soft food b/c he can't chew anything yet. That hasn't stopped him from enjoying his food. Last night he ate 7 nuggets from Chick-fil-A. I couldn't believe it! I still cut everything in small pieces so that helps him too.

He is doing so much and his personality really shines. He is a mama's boy and I love it! He likes to hang on to my pant leg and walk around the house with me. He also likes for us to chase him and he "runs" from us, squealing. He's learning to chase us too.

A New Year

The New Year is almost here. James and I are probably going to bring in the New Year at home. We are going to a MOPS party earlier in the evening and then we are coming back home. It will be nice to have Ryland in bed and not out so late. Our friends that we usually spend New Year's with are going to a Football Bowl game this year. Have fun Lisa and Craig!

We enjoyed our Christmas this year. Ryland had a ball with all of his presents, thanks to grandparents! I have already taken down our tree and decorations. We put the tree up right after Thanksgiving so it's been up for a while. I am ready to get things back in order. Now, I'm trying to find a corner for Ryland's toys.

There are several things I am going to try to do different this year. I'm not calling it a New Year's Resolution, because I don't keep those.

Ryland's 12 month appt

I took Ryland for his 12 month appt. It went great. He was in a smiley mood and smiled at Dr. B when she came in the room. He is now on whole milk. No more formula!!! He still only has 2 teeth, which is so funny considering so many kids his age and younger have a mouthful of teeth. He is 20 lbs, 6 oz and 28.75 inches long. He is still in the 10-25% for kids his age. He walks up a storm and looks so funny b/c he is so small. We are getting ready to get rid of his bottle. We've already gotten rid of the mid day bottle. We've been given the ok to turn his car seat around. We may do that around the new year, we'll see.

I am so thankful for his health and the fact that he is even here. God is so Good.....

Merry CHRISTmas!!!

To all my friends and family,

I just want to wish you a Merry Christmas! Let us never get caught up in all the commercialism of Christmas, but remember to celebrate the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ!

Blessings for a wonderful 2008!

You better watch out, you better not pout.....

Here is Ryland's first visit to see Santa Claus. He did very well until we got up close. Then he screamed like crazy. After we calmed him down, we sat him in Santa's chair. Because he couldn't see Santa, he started smiling and clowning around again. This picture shows him not to sure of Santa. We enjoyed the quick visit.

Pics of the cousins....

Scroll down to see pics of my sister's kids. They are so sweet! They have gone back to North Carolina for a couple of days and then back home to Idaho. I miss them already!

Ryland is 1 year old!!!

Ryland turned 1 yesterday. What a great day! We had a party for him at our home. There was a house full of family and friends and we had a ball. Ryland loved all the attention and it was nice that he walked around everywhere. He got all kinds of toys and some clothes. He also got a couple of duplicate toys, which was funny. I really enjoyed myself and enjoyed celebrating his special day. I know he enjoyed himself too!

Update on Ryland

Ryland woke up several times through the night. I think he was just not able to get comfortable. He seems to be fine this morning, but I am keeping him home just in case. We will miss MOPS today and I'm bummed about that. I really enjoy getting out and talking with other moms. But I want to be a good mom and keep my child from getting other kids sick. I believe in the "better safe than sorry" approach.

My ears are still feeling stopped up. That is an agrevating feeling. I really feel for babies that have constant ear infections. I'm thankful Ryland's never had one yet.

You've GOT to be kidding me....

Ryland has a fever tonight. James and I went to the store and James said, "Ryland feels hot, he has a fever". I felt his head and he felt a little warm, but I didn't think it was fever. Well, he whined through the store and when James held him, he laid his head on James's chest. That right there was proof to me that he was sick b/c he is too nosy to just lay down.

Ryland's birthday is this Saturday and we are having some family/friends over. I pray that these next couple of days will give him time to feel better. I'm not sure what the deal is.

I have a double ear infection and have been on antibiotics for 5 days now. James just got over toncilitis/strep 2 weeks ago. Ryland avoided all that and now, 3 days before his birthday, he's gonna get sick??? Please pray for him........

Ryland and his cousins

My sister has been in town for a couple of weeks visiting. It has been so good to see her and her boys. They are getting so big and Ryland loves playing with them. He thinks he is big like them. Christian is 4 and Tyler is 18 months. It's funny to see the difference in size between Tyler and Ryland. I'll post pics soon.

My "Daring" Darling

Here are a couple of pics of Ryland walking.
There are also some pics of his new trick...standing on his four wheeler. How do they know to do that? I guess it's the daredevil in him. I better keep a close watch on him.

Ryland's walking!

Yep, he's a walking machine. It has happened so fast. He walks across a room now and is so proud of himself. He still falls alot, of course, but he loves walking.

I'll post pics later...

Hair cut again...

Ryland got his hair cut this week. He did very well, sitting in my lap in the seat. He watched the other ladies in the salon getting their hair done.

We are getting ready for his 1st birthday in a couple of weeks. Wow! Time is flying by...

Two Steps!!!

Ryland took a couple of steps this weekend!!!! He has been standing without assistance for a couple of weeks, but hasn't had the confidence to take some steps. He did that this weekend and we were so excited for him. It is breaking my heart that my baby is going to be 1 year old soon, but I am thankful that he is doing so much.

He still only has two bottom teeth. I guess it's gonna be a while before he gets more. But he does like it when I brush those two teeth.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I want to wish all my friends and family a Happy Thanksgiving!

I am thankful for my husband James and my miracle baby, Ryland. It's his first Thanksgiving and it's hard to believe this time last year I was huge with child. hehe I am thankful for my family and my friends, my health, shelter, transportation and the ability to go from 2 incomes to 1 and be able to stay at home with Ryland. God has been so good to us!

This year will be hard for my family due to the loss of my grandfather, but I know that he is having his own Thanksgiving celebration with our Lord and my Granny this year.

Hug your loved ones, we are not promised tomorrow. Live with no regrets...

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

In memory of Preston Sutphin

Today I have sad news...my grandfather passed away yesterday. He's my dad's dad. A year ago, he was given 6 months to live. He had many health problems and I'm thankful to know that he is in Heaven with our Lord Jesus and he has no health problems anymore!

Please be in prayer for my family, especially my dad and his 2 brothers - James, Mike and Joe.

Here they come.... Ladybugs!!!

It's that time of year again...the season of ladybugs in the Hyder house. One or two in the house is ok, but we get hundreds of them and I get so tired of cleaning them up! Now, I have to beat Ryland to them before he eats them....

My mom and dad came over last night for dinner. Ryland did the cutest thing to my mom (Nonna). He held his hand to his ear and said "hey" like he was talking on the phone. I wonder where he learned that?????

My little man

My little man is almost 11 months old. I can't believe how fast the time goes. I know I have said that in several of my entries, but it still amazes me how God gives Ryland the ability to learn each new thing that he does. He can wave (he throw his hand up and his fingers rub each other), clap his hands to patty-cake, tell me he's hungry with the sign language for "eat", hold on to anything and walk around, smile at his daddy and me when we come into the room, "bark at the dogs" and much more.

Motherhood has been such a fun adjustment. It's definitely an adjustment, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I am so thankful for this opportunity. I pray that God will continue to work in me so that I can a Godly mom for Ryland.

Have a great week everyone!

Gross!

Ryland was laying across the fireplace this morning (he loves that place) and picked up a dead roach. I ran over there to get it out of his hand before it became breakfast. After cleaning his hand, I had to go pick it up. Nasty!!!!

Lovely way to start the morning...

Mr. Smarty Pants

Ryland loves to climb on the fireplace and I am "trying" to get him to stop. I was talking on the phone with a friend today and he was trying to climb up on the fireplace. I snapped and he turned to look at me. I shook my head "no" and he smiled and started waving his hand and moving his fingers at me. I think he was trying to snap right back at me. Silly boy!

Oh, and yesterday he bit my finger. Here it comes......

Panama City Beach

We just got back from Panama City Beach. We had a great time and the weather was perfect. We couldn't have asked for more. Who would of thought going to the beach in November that we'd be wearing shorts? We went with with one of our close friends. We stayed in a condo on the beach on the 21st floor. That is the highest I have been in a building and it definitely took my breath away looking out on the balcony. Ryland had a blast and loved crawling in the sand. James and Norman tried skim boarding and fell several times and we laughed so hard! I wish I had taken video. Because the water is so clear, we saw jellyfish, stingrays, baracudas, dolphins and schools of fish from our balcony. It was a great weekend!

Fall Festival

We had our Fall Festival this past Sunday. Ryland had a great time looking at all the sights and talking with all the people.

Here is Ryland and his buddy Kendall.

Ryland and the Pumpkin Patch

Today we went in search of Ryland's first pumpkin! He had a great time and was more interested in picking up hay than picking out a pumpkin. Here are some pics!

Grumpy.....

Ryland is definitely just like his momma in the way that if he doesn't get good sleep, he is a grump! He fussed and fussed this morning until I put him pack to bed. Once he got up a second time, he was a different baby. Good thing....

I would like to go a get a pumpkin this weekend. I'm going to take my camera and try to get some good pics for his 10 month pictures. Wish me luck!

Sign Language

Ryland did the sign language for eat yesterday for the first time. As soon as I do it, he will copy me. I was very excited! He will also blink his eyes when you blink yours at him first.

We went out to eat lunch today with some friends from my old work. Wow, that was weird typing that. Anyway, Ryland had a great time and is quite the little flirt. I had fun hanging out with the girls...it was like old times.....

Where is the fall weather?

I am so ready for fall weather to get here. The weather is so warm for October, we'll probably be wearing shorts to our Fall Festival at church. We bought Ryland a pumpkin sweatsuit to wear, but he may not be wearing it if it doesn't cool down more.
Fall is my favorite season and it's already mid October and I'm still waiting for it.....

Catching up

Ok, so James said I need to update more often. Sometimes I don't know what to write about but I will try to do better.

Ryland just got over being sick. First, he had a stomach virus for 1.5 weeks and then he had a fever on and off for about 6 days. He is finally back to his old self which is great b/c no sleep was wearing on me and him.

Last night I watched a friend's 4 month old. He was so good! It's hard to believe Ryland was small like that. Ryland wasn't so sure about it. It was funny to see him watching us.

ok....that's all I have for now....

Can it be true???

Ryland has gone 4 days without spitting up the quantity he usually spits. Ryland has reflux real bad and spits up more than any child I've ever seen (he and Kendall are a close match). Anyway, he has done so well, I've not put a bib on him for 2 days while we are at home! That in itself is amazing!

I hope he continues on this path....it is so nice!

Then and Now

Just a couple of pics to compare how much Ryland has grown in 6 months. His feet were hanging in the first pic.

Little boy

In one of my previous posts, I said Ryland was little. Here's proof! He's 9.5 months old and wearing a 3-6 month pair of jeans. hehe
I need to buy him a pair of jeans soon, those JUST fit. I think they're cute though!

Sick in Virginia

We just got back from Virginia where we visited James's Dad. Ryland had a virus and it ended up spreading to James. So I had two sick guys. Then I got a little bit of it, so we were pretty pitiful the whole trip. I won't lie, it is so nice to be home. Nobody likes to be away from home when they're sick.
We did get to visit a historical museum and had a good time.

Home sweet home....

He's doing what???

An update on Ryland. He is starting to show his other side, his temper that is. The side that gets mad when I change his clothes or make him lay still when I change his diaper or when I tell him 'no' and move him from something he wants to be doing, etc... He is starting to hit at my hands and I'm sure he knows I hate it when he pulls my hair because he will look at me, smile and pull my hair very, very hard. I tell him 'no' and he does it again. I didn't know 9 month olds were so smart. He knows exactly what he wants to get into and pitches a fit when he doesn't get his way. I guess it's that red hair!

Oh! On another note, his second bottom tooth came through.

Ryland's first tooth

Ryland's first tooth has popped through. I can just feel it when I rub his bottom gum. I love looking at his smile and seeing all gums. I guess I better enjoy it for a little while longer.....

Happy Anniversary!!!!!!

Today is mine and James's 9 year anniversary!! God has truly been good to us. I am so blessed to have a man that loves the Lord first and then his family second.

Happy Anniversary Baby, I love you !

9 Month Appt.

Ryland had his 9 month appt. Everything went fine. For those who don't know, Ryland has reflux very bad and spits up all day, every day. While we were in the room waiting for Dr. B, he spit up 3 times. Then when she was in there, he spit up on my shoulder and it went down the front and back of my shirt. Talk about distracting. He weighs 18 lbs and measures in the 25 percentile on height, weight and head size. I guess he's gonna be small. Sorry Ryland.....

He is crawling and pulling up everywhere and loves looking out of the back door. He can eat off of the table and he's doing good picking little pieces of food up and putting them in his mouth. He can drink from a straw, that is very impressive to James and me. He is such a people person and he's starting to 'dance' to music. So sweet.

My baby is getting big....I'm loving every day and cherishing it because I know it will go by fast.

Ryland's first haircut

It was time...Ryland's hair was hanging over his ears and was getting long in the back. His Uncle Craig even called him a girl. lol
Ryland and I went yesterday and got our hair cut. He did really well. He kept looking all over the place and wasn't very still, but we got it accomplished. I didn't want a lot cut, just trimmed. I think it turned out well.

Camping

This past weekend, we went camping at the lake. We had a great time and the weather was nice. Ryland did great, of course! He loved being the center of attention. He had a lot of people to hold him and play with him. He took pretty good naps and slept all night.

It was nice to get away and relax for a couple of days.

Having fun with Daddy

Tonight, James put Ryland's bike trailer on and pulled him around in the backyard. At first, Ryland looked a little unsure, but as time went on, he looked like he really enjoyed himself. When James would stop, he would have the biggest smile. I can't wait for the weather to cool down so we can go riding. That will be fun!

My new desk!!!

I finally have my new desk! I've been using a fold up table and fold up chair as my desk until James finished building it. He did an excellent job! I am so happy with it. We found a desk in the office store, but it was not very well made so James said "I can build that" and he did. He and a friend (thanks for letting us use your shop and tools Doug) built the desk and James stained it. I even got a desk chair. Yea for me!!!

Thanks babe, you did a great job!

Mohawk boy

A cute pic we took tonight after Ryland's bath. Of course, he's standing in his bed, his favorite thing to do.

He's pulling up and standing!

It's official! Ryland can pull himself up and stand. He stands in his bed all the time now. He did it for the first time yesterday. I was putting clothes away and I turn to look at him in his bed and he's standing there looking back. He looked at me and said "hi". He is so proud of himself.
He is starting to sleep better through the night now and he acts like he's feeling better too. I'm so glad.
