Week 1 down

James has been in California for almost a week now. It's been going better than I thought it would. We've been really busy so the week has flown by, thank the Lord. Next week is not as busy and the third week is pretty empty for us.

James is doing well and enjoying the sights of California. Today he visited Yosemite and really enjoyed it. Yesterday he played Pebble Beach with my brother in law.

Ryland has been doing well. Since we are able to see James with the webcam 2x a day, it's been really nice! I'm so thankful that Ryland is feeling well and doing really good. He is definitely a mama's boy! No complaints here...

Tuesday

We had bible study this morning and I enjoyed it. It's nice to get out of the house and Ryland loves to play with other kids. Afterwards, I came home to put Ryland down for a nap but it seems that he had no interest in that idea so we went to get the truck's oil changed. Now we are back home and I decided to let him play with his sand/water table he got for Christmas. I bought some dry beans to put in it and right now, I am not going to do water. :o) Once it gets warmer, I probably will.

I also bought him some elmo slippers to wear. He had such a ball with Tyler's the other day and he loves wearing mine and James's shoes so I thought I'd get him some slippers to play in.

Monday

James made it to San Francisco safely. I am very thankful for answered prayer. Before he left, we purchased some webcams so that we could see each other while we talked. We tried it out this morning and it's great! Ryland really enjoyed seeing James and kept saying "hey daddy".

Ryland and I went to StoryTime at the library for the first time today. We met Trisha, Savannah and Sarah Beth there. Ryland did great! He stayed with me on the carpet for the book time and got to play with puzzles and puppets afterward. He and Savannah had a great time.

I actually took a nap when Ryland napped today. I was up late waiting for James to call and so I decided to catch up on sleep.

So day 1 is almost done and we are doing well. God is already working on me and showing me things.

I don't think I'll post everyday, but it may be more often. It's a good time waster for me.

Here is Ryland wearing his dinner of mac and cheese.

Straight to the bathtub we went.....

He's gone...again

James is on the plane to Atlanta as I type this. From Atlanta, he'll be flying to San Francisco to work for 3 weeks. I hope these weeks go by fast and I pray that God will use this time to speak to me and work through me.

Ryland was not happy at all about James leaving. He kept saying "no airpane, no airpane". I know he will miss his daddy bunches.

He's home!

James is home from his skiing trip in Colorado. He had a great time, but is glad to be home with his sweet little boy and beautiful wife. Ryland was so excited to see his daddy. He just hugged James and kept saying "daddy, daddy". I slept so well last night. The first since he's been gone. Ryland was sick for the entire time James was gone and it was miserable. He starting to feel better and I'm so glad.

James is leaving again this weekend for California. He'll be gone 3 weeks straight. This time it's business, not pleasure. I'm going to take it one day at a time and pray that time will pass quickly!

This was a welcome home daddy hug....

About time....

I was told by a dear, sweet friend that I need to update my blog. I mean too, but everytime I sit down to do it my ADD kicks in and I get distracted by other things. Anyway, here is your update....

Ryland went to his 2 year dr's appt yesterday. He had many firsts - standing on the scale, standing against the wall to measure his height, first finger poke for hemoglobin check and first time standing in the corner for punishment for throwing his cup in the trash after I told him not too. Oh, did I mention the dr chose that moment to walk in? He did ok, but does not like her looking in his ears. He got to pick out a toy for it being his birthday visit.

James is in Breckenridge, Colorado, skiing with a group from church. I hope he has a great time there and gets all his skiing out.

I am wondering what I am going to do while James is gone. Right now, it's taking care of a little boy that does NOT tolerate shots well. He did get a shot yesterday and ever since he was little, he has a couple of sleepless nights, fever and the whineys and clingys. That has been today. He did get a great nap in today so that's good.

Just want to say congratulations to my friends, Doug and Trisha and Savannah as they welcome little Sarah Beth to the family. She is a sweet, cute little baby! Savannah is Ryland's best-est friend. It will be interesting to see how he does around Sarah Beth.

Ok...gotta go... Ryland's wanting me to play again.

Have a good weekend and please pray that James and the rest of the group get home safely on Monday.

I'm so thankful I married a handyman...

James is the bomb!!! A couple of days after commenting that we could not buy any new appliances this year, our washing machine broke. After spending $11, it's fixed. Thank you Lord for it not costing an arm and a leg!

We've had a good new year so far....Ryland is giving us a run for our money in the sleeping department. I switched his crib to a toddler bed on Christmas Eve and it's been an experience. It takes that kid 1-2 hours to go to bed each night. I got a couple of hints from a friend and I'm going to try those.

We had a good Christmas and Ryland was so excited to play with his trains. His vocabulary is growing daily and sometimes I think I'm the only one that understands him fully. James is really close though. He is such a sweet little boy with a strong-will streak that is beginning to shine through. Uh-oh...here we come terrible-twos! :o)
